23 Telangana agitators booked for assaulting police officer

Police said that the agitators attacked an assistant sub inspector Rajamouli who sustained injuries.

As many as 23 Telangana agitators including former MLA from Manthani,Chandupatla Ram Reddy,were arrested and produced before the Judicial Magistrate here today on the charge of assaulting a police officer on Saturday.

The accused were among those who were taking part in an agitation for Telangana on Saturday at Manthani town near here when the police tried to restrain them. There was also a lathicharge on the agitators.

The police said that the agitators attacked an assistant sub inspector Rajamouli who sustained injuries.

Police registered a case against 27 agitators including Chandupatla Ram Reddy. Out of them,four were arrested and remanded in judicial custody on Monday. Today,23 agitators were arrested on the charge of assaulting and intimidating a police officer.

The Magistrate,Sunandanamma remanded the accused in judicial custody till October 17.
