10 Janpath more powerful than 7 race course Rd,mocks Advani

L K Advani launched his electioneering in West Bengal with his oft-repeated charge that UPA govt's decisions are still being taken by Sonia Gandhi.

BJP’s prime ministerial candidate L K Advani on Wednesday said that Manmohan Singh has “devalued” the office of the Prime Minister and Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s residence has become the “real centre of power”.

Manmohan Singh has devalued the office of the Prime Minister, while 10 Janpath (Sonia Gandhi’s residence) has become more important than 7 Race Course (Prime Minister’s residence),” Advani said at an election rally here in North 24-parganas district.

The BJP leader said,”I had a lot of respect for Manmohan Singh before he became the Prime Minister. But after becoming PM,he sent his ministers to 10 Janpath to take permission before finalising any decision”.

Advani regretted that the Congress had become a “party ruled by a family” while there were political parties which were either “leader-centric or caste-centric”.

However,he said, the BJP “is free from all this”. “We had stalwarts like Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Atal Behari Vajpayee and none of them ran the party like a dictator.”

“In our party (BJP),internal democracy is foremost,” Advani said.

The BJP leader urged the voters to compare NDA with UPA and listed NDA’s achievements in different sectors for people’s welfare.
