The former Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrashekar Rao, has been issued a notice by the Justice Narasimha Reddy commission seeking a response on alleged irregularities in power purchase agreements (PPAs) made during his tenure as CM from 2014 to 2023.

The Commission has sought a reply from Rao, who is the founder of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and current leader of the opposition, by June 15. The BRS then asked for time till July 30.

In March, the A Revanth Reddy-led government had appointed the Justice Narasimha Reddy commission to probe allegations that Rao’s government had purchased, at unusually high prices, power from Chhattisgarh to construct power projects at Yadadri and Bhadradri. Agreements had been made with the Chhattisgarh government to purchase power due to Telangana’s power shortage after the state was created.
