Former Janata Dal (United) leader Ajay Alok joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in New Delhi on Friday, nearly a year after he was expelled from the Nitish Kumar-led party for alleged "anti-party activities". Addressing a press conference in the National Capital on Friday morning, Alok said: "By joining the BJP, I feel like I am joining my family. A family led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi." He added that the policies of the saffron party have inspired the nation. The former JD(U) spokesperson was removed from the party, along with three others, in June last year. The other suspended leaders include state secretaries Anil Kumar and Bipin Kumar and another senior leader Jitendra Neeraj. At the time, JD(U) state president Umesh Kushwaha said in a statement that some party functionaries had been running parallel programmes against party lines.
