Two Pakistan nationals — Abdullah Shah (21) and Mohammed Imran Warsi (36) — were on Wednesday repatriated through the Attari-Wagah border. While Abdullah Shah returned back to Pakistan after serving six months at the Amritsar jail, Warsi served a ten-year jail term in Bhopal.
“It was my childhood dream to meet Shah Rukh Khan. I had come to India in 2017. Now, I will go home and then will come back again,” said Abdullah, who had crossed over into India illegally during the retreat ceremony and told BSF officials that he had come to meet Shah Rukh Khan. He was later sentenced to six months in jail. While his wish to meet the actor remains unfulfilled, he said that he had not lost hope meeting him.
“I will fulfill my wish with the grace of God. Shah Rukh Khan is great artist and it is difficult to meet him. I want to tell him that I love him,” said Abdullah before crossing over. Warsi, meanwhile, was worried about leaving his wife and two children behind. He had come to India in 2004 and married one Shazia in Kolkata.
The couple had two children after marriage. Warsi, however, jumped his visa and then tried getting citizenship using fake papers. He was caught in 2008 and sentenced to 10 years in prison under charges of espionage. After completing his jail term, he took help from fellow prisoners to pay Rs 8000 fine in order to secure his release. “When I called my parents after getting released, they told me that they thought that I was dead. They couldn’t believe I was alive,” said Warsi.
He added: “I want my wife and children back. I am going away from my children and wife, so I am sad. But I will meet my parents, so I am happy. I will request Pakistan government to get my wife and children there.” Warsi will meet his parents after 14 years.
