Warmer morning for Delhiites after season’s coldest day

The MeT had predicted that today's minimum could be around nine degree Celsius.

After experiencing the season’s coldest day,Delhiites today woke up to a comparatively warm morning with the night temperatures rising above 9.8 degree Celsius.

Though a layer of fog engulfed the city overnight,it had little impact on the operations at the Indira Gandhi International airport but a few trains were affected.

Today’s minimum,9.8 degree Celsius,was three degrees above normal and up by 2.4 degrees from yesterday’s minimum,the MeT Office said. The MeT had predicted that today’s minimum could be around nine degree Celsius.

The capital yesterday witnessed the coldest day of the season so far with the mercury plummeting to 15.2 degree Celsius,seven degrees below normal.

Flight operations at the IGI airport here remained normal for the second day today due to absence of dense fog.

Though the facility witnessed fog at night and in the morning,the runway visibility was good enough for smooth operations and there were no cancellations or diversion of flight.

Delhi airport had witnessed dense fog for three day since Christmas,leading to delay of over 350 flights and diversion of several others.

The runway visibility hovered between 800 to 1600 metres,forcing the authorities to implement low visibility procedures last evening.
