Uncle betrays trust, throws kid on railway track to kill him

Court sentenced uncle to 7 yrs in jail for kidnapping and throwing his 8-year-old nephew on railway track to kill him.

A Delhi court today sentenced a man to seven years in jail for kidnapping and throwing his eight-year-old nephew on a railway track to kill him.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Virender Bhat sentenced convict Karamvir,a North West Delhi resident, saying he belied his nephew’s “trust and faith” and “turned out to his tormentor.”

“The convict had kidnapped the minor son of his own brother-in-law (wife’s brother). It is apparent that victim child easily and unsuspectingly accompanied him as he is his (child’s) ‘fufa’ (the husband of father’s sister).

“The child had faith in the convict, but the convict belied the trust and faith reposed in him by the child and made an attempt to eliminate him,” the court said, imposing a fine of Rs 15,000 also on the convict.

It added the convict being closely related to the child, was like a guardian to child. He,however,”turned out to be the tormentor for the child.”

The court added Karmvir had left the child in an unconscious state on the railway tracks on January 21,2011 after inflicting grievous injuries upon him and the child would have certainly lost his life but remained alive only by dint of providence.

Karamvir was charged with the offences of attempt to murder and kidnapping his nephew.

Even as the prosecution attributed no motive behind the crime committed by Karmvir, his counsel had submitted that he was falsely implicated in the case by his brother-in-law Sudan Kumar, who did not like Karmvir as he was his wife’s step

brother.

Karmvir also sought leniency saying he has two minor children besides his wife and there is nobody to look after them.
