Two SPOs dismissed from services for beating villagers in J-K

Two Special Police officers were on Thursday dismissed for allegedly beating villagers in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Two Special Police officers were on Thursday dismissed for allegedly beating villagers in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir,police said here.

The incident took place on Wednesday after a missing report of a girl Zahida Bani was lodged in the police post at Sajjar in Kishtwar district,they said.

The SPOs,Mohammad Ayoub and Noor Hussain,who are relatives of Zahida,immediately rushed to the Shashoo village and beat up the villagers,they said.

Unable to bear the harassment,a youth Haneef jumped into the river Chenab last night,they said,adding he is still missing.

Taking firm action against the SPOs,police authorities dismissed them and ordered a probe into the incident after villagers held demonstrations here on Thursday.
