To pep up his staff, Goyal calls Chetan Bhagat

According to his website, Bhagat is also a motivational speaker on “leadership, passion, values, team building, motivation, achieving goals.”

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged his ministers to empower the bureaucracy, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Piyush Goyal rushed in to pep up his officials at Coal, Power and New & Renewable Energy ministries by scheduling a “motivational talk” by author Chetan Bhagat.

According to his website, Bhagat is also a motivational speaker on “leadership, passion, values, team building, motivation, achieving goals.”

Sources said Goyal initially favoured Shiv Khera, founder of US-based Qualified Learning Systems Inc, to “inspire” his officers but settled for Bhagat because of “time and cost considerations”. Goyal, who told his officers that he wants results “in hours, not days”, is holding the conclave on Monday before starting business.

The conclave “Sampark, Smanvay Evam Samvad (Connect, Coordinate and Communicate)” will also give an hour of open house to officials for “suggestions for the future” after Bhagat’s hour-long session. Phone calls and a text message to Goyal went unanswered.
