Three members of a family were found killed inside their residence in Chhaya area of Porbandar town early on Thursday morning with the police primarily suspecting it to be a murder case. [related-post] Kamlabaug police station in Porbandar received a telephone message at around 10 am informing them that two men and a woman were lying dead in their residence in Chhaya area. The victims have been identified as Parbat Vadhiya (65), his wife Lakshmi and son Jayanti (30). Sources said the victims were hacked to death with sharp-edged weapons. "The victims are farmers. Their residence is near their agricultural field. So, when Parbat's daughter, who also lives in the area, went to the farm, she noticed that his father was asleep till late morning and there was blood. She informed local residents. We suspect this is a case of mass murder," Kantilal Makwana, police inspector of Kamlabaug told The Indian Express. Porbandar police concluded that it was a case of murder but conceded they had no clue about culprits till late evening. "This a case of murder. We have recovered a spade with blood stains and we believe it was used to kill the three. However, we do not have any eyewitnesses and therefore we do not know, as of now, as to what has happened. But Parbat's elder son Keshu is missing. We are trying to apprehend him. His apprehension can throw some light on the incident," superintendent of police of Porbandar, Girish Pandya told The Indian Express. The SP further said that Keshu used to live with his parents and younger brother in the joint family. But his wife and two children had gone away to Kutiyana when the alleged murder was committed. "Bodies of the victims have been sent for post-mortem. We shall come to know about what time the crime was committed after we get post-mortem reports," said Pandya.
