Telcos file complain against ‘disruption of services’

Companies seek police action to stop sabotage of telecom services across Punjab.

Indus Towers Limited,Tower Vision,Viom Networks,BSNL and telecom service providers including Idea Cellular,Vodafone,Bharti Airtel,Tata Tele Services have jointly given a representation to the Punjab Police.

The signed representation was submitted against unlawful and illegal acts of damaging and interfering in telecom network and equipment and frequent sabotage by anti-social elements in 19 districts of Punjab.

Representatives of the telecos met ADGP (Law &),Punjab and discussed the incidents pertaining to the alarming increase in vandalism of telecom sites and equipment in certain districts of Punjab.

The firms alleged that some technicians deployed at telecom sites were involved in disrupting the telecom network by sabotaging the sites and equipment. As a result,it has led to disruptions of mobile network in 19 districts of the state.
