Mayawati said that the Gujarat chief minister should first give a clarification about the surveillance.

She said Modi has been saying that there is lack of development in Uttar Pradesh and repeats the statement at all his rallies, but he has not yet “opened his mouth” about the alleged surveillance of the woman in Gujarat.

She said the Supreme Court should also take cognizance of the purported tapes of surveillance and punish those found guilty in the matter.
