The Maharashtra government has decided to provide additional security to CBI officers probing the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case.
Home minister R R Patil wrote to state director general of police Sanjeev Dayal Monday to seriously consider the CBI threat concern and take necessary security measures. He asserted all help required should be provided to CBI officers probing the case.
A senior officer in the home ministry said,Patil has suo moto taken note of the reports in which CBI expressed security concern for its officers investigating the Ishrat Jahan case.
Dayal said,I have not received a request but if CBI has any apprehension,we will provide necessary assistance.
CBI has urged ministry of home affairs to provide more security to its officers,including officer Sandeep Tamgadge.
CBI has written to MHA and the state government, director Ranjit Sinha confirmed.
