State govt advisory behind suspension of Arunachal train

Train service to Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh was suspended four days ago following a security advisory from the state government following threats to harm and stop trains going to the state, a letter written by the NF Railway’s Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Rangiya to authorities, revealed. The state also informed the Railways that it was short of police force in view of the elections.

“There has been threat given by All Nishyi Students’ Union and All Papum Pare District Students’ Union to harm and stop trains going to Naharlagun,” the DRM said in the letter to Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi.

The threats were issued last month. The DRM mentioned this to Negi on April 28 and again on May 8.

The train service to Naharlagun was finally suspended from May 9 after the DRM received a phone call from the SP of Papum Pare and another from the deputy commissioner on May 8.
