Somaiya says firms funded by Tatkare being probed in coal scam

“Next Technology is a company promoted by Sunil Tatkare’s son and daughter. It has invested in Grace Industries and Gupta International Industries,which are being investigated by CBI in the coal scam,” he said.

Somaiya claimed the investments by Next Technologies were made between 2008 and 2010.

He had earlier alleged files sought by CBI in connection with allocation of coal blocks in Maharashtra were missing.

“Despite repeated CBI reminders,the Maharashtra government refuses to pass information about these two companies,” Somaiya said,and demanded Tatkare’s resignation for an impartial probe in the scam.

As per CBI,Grace Industries changed ownership structure after it was allocated Lohara (East) block in Maharashtra in 2008.

The company claimed its net worth was Rs 120 crore but investigation revealed Rs 3.3 crore. After the allocation,it sold stake to another company and made profit.

Tatkare and family were not available for comment.
