A number of migrant labourers working at Delhi Metro sites now want to go back home as they are "shocked and worried" over the back-to-back mishaps at a construction site but some say the show must go on. The two accidents in as many days at the Jamrudpur Metro site seem to have shaken them and they now do not want to continue with the "dangerous" work. "I am afraid. Two of my colleagues who were on the night shift were trapped inside the debris when the bridge collapsed. I was lucky as I was not on that shift. I don't want to endanger my life knowingly," says Niranjan (27) a worker from Bihar. Workers claim around 40 labourers have decided to leave the job and have already asked the contractor to clear their accounts. "I was earlier working in the fabrication department. I would again request them to shift me there. I don't want to work on these sites any more," says Vinod,another worker. 50-year-old Barsatu Sharma,also from Bihar,however,seems to be not that frail-hearted. "We here here to earn our bread and butter. Though after these incidents we are afraid but we still have to work as in such a huge projects theses things do happen," he says. Six persons were killed and 15 injured on Sunday when the under-construction bridge collapsed while six were injured yesterday when two cranes carrying out debris clearance collapsed.
