A person suspected to have made around ten hoax bomb calls was detained by police from a hospital premises Wednesday evening when he was allegedly making another mischievous call,police said.
Kanta Prasad (45),hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district and now residing in Najafgarh,was caught from a telephone booth in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital around 4 pm while he was making a call,a senior police official said.
“We have detained him as we suspect that he had made the hoax calls yesterday,” Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said. Earlier,police had said they have arrested him and even allowed press photographers to take his pictures.
“We will collect his voice samples after taking the permission of the court. There is a requirement to do so as it is a non-cognisable offence,” he said.
Prasad was working as a supplier in a gas agency in Najafgarh,allegedly came to the RML Hospital on Tuesday and on Wednesday only to make calls to police claiming that bombs were placed in prominent places,a senior police official claimed.
“He has no relatives or friends admitted to RML. He came there only to make the hoax calls. He got thrilled at people and police running around after making the call. He did it for cheap thrill,” the official claimed.
However,another official said he made the calls to become an informer of police. “He had given information regarding illegal transfer of gas from LPG cylinders. He said he wanted to become an informer and so made the calls.”
