A CBI court on Tuesday sentenced three persons — a DDA official, a retired lieutenant colonel and a property dealer — to three years’ imprisonment for selling an unallotted flat by fraudulent means. According to the CBI, the DDA officials in nexus with property dealers had forged documents pertaining to a flat in Vasant Kunj area and sold it for Rs 30 lakh to Mehar Singh. However, the CBI told the court that the flat had never been allotted to anyone. Special CBI Judge Rajiv Mehra convicted Dealing Assistant Satyavir Singh, property dealer Anil Kumar and Lt Col (retd) S K Behl on counts of cheating, forgery and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The court also imposed fines of Rs 30,000, Rs 65,000 and Rs 40,000, respectively on the three. Two others were acquitted due to insufficient evidence.
