Retd jawan stabbed to death

Harbans (60),who had been living alone over the last year following the death of his wife,was found dead. He had been injured in the head by sharp-edged weapons.

“Harbans usually went to his brother’s home for having food but he did not on February 23 and 24. As Harbans’ phone was also switched off,Hansa Singh informed police. We went to his home in the morning and found a blood-soaked body wrapped in blankets. Liquor bottles and food were also found at the spot,” said Nihal Singh Wala SHO Rishpal Singh.

Singh added: “A few kabaddi players used to visit Harbans regularly and had drinks with him. Harbans also used to give them pocket money. Maybe that day,he either refused to give them money or the youths decided to rob him. We are looking at all angles.”

Following postmortem examination at the Moga Civil Hospital,the victim’s body was handed over to his family.
