Rescued Faridkot minor girl found 1-month pregnant

“Despite illness,she was not ready for a medical examination. She could be persuaded only after the psychologists and the doctors at the hospital counselled her. She was medically examined by a board of woman doctors late on Sunday,” a senior police officer said.

One of the doctors,on condition of anonymity,confirmed the tests and the minor girl’s pregnancy.

Earlier,she was produced before the court of chief judicial magistrate,which had been arranged on Sunday to complete the legal formalities,before she was taken to the hospital for medical examination.

The girl was allegedly kidnapped on September 24 by Nishan Singh (19) and his accomplices. After being found in Goa,along with Nishan,on October 21,and after she refused to undergo a medical test and go with her parents,she was lodged at Jalandhar Nari Niketan on the order of a local court.

Girl meets family

The family of the minor girl,including her parents,sister and uncle on Monday met her for an hour-and-a-half,after meeting their Jalandhar Police Commissioner Gaurav Yadav. The police also arranged for the girl to meet Punjab Women Commission chairperson Gurdev Sangha,along with renowned social worker Parminder Beri. Meanwhile,the Faridkot police has added rape charges in the case registered against Nishan Singh after the girl was found to be four-week pregnant.
