Punjab polls: Whoever wins,halwais set to make a killing

According to the Punjab Halwai Association,last time,more than 100 quintals of laddoos were distributed in Punjab post elections.

In Muktsar,where Radha Soami Sweet Shop and Bikaner Sweet Shop re also ready with quintals of laddoos,the mood is subdued following the death of sitting MLA Sunny Brar and husband of Congress candidate Karan Brar. “Even if the Congress candidate wins,laddoos will not be distributed. So,we are diverting our sales to small sweet shop owners in the district. After all,stock has to be consumed,” said a sweet shop owner in the Muktsar main market.

In Lambi,though barfi and gulab jamun were already being distributed in the Badal residence,but laddoos were meant for celebration day only. “More than 20 quintals will be distributed in Lambi alone. So,the halwais are ready with the stocks. They are just waiting for the order. Earlier,we used to employ our men to make laddoos,but now,things have changed,” said Tejinder Singh,a party worker.

Small shops near Badal’s residence were seen overloaded with the huge stock of fresh laddoos.

In the Bikaner Mishthan Bhandaar at Gidderbaha as well,stocks of motichoor laddoos was ready for sale. The shop owners claimed they are not bothered about which party comes to power,but the winning candidate will buy sweets for sure,so business will be good.
