Probe order political vindictiveness,an attack on Centre,State ties, says BJP

The party also hinted that the Gujarat government may challenge the Centre’s decision in the SC.

The BJP said Thursday that the Centre’s decision to set up an inquiry commission to probe the alleged snooping on a woman in Gujarat smacked of “political vindictiveness” and was a “violation” of Centre-State ties. The party also hinted that the Gujarat government may challenge the Centre’s decision in the Supreme Court.

“This action legally is suspect and liable for challenge… it violates the federal structure of the Constitution. It is an affront to the States,” said Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley.

“It is a clear case of political vindictiveness,it is a witch-hunt… Clearly it is the fascist Congress with its emergency mindset that has taken such a decision… It is also an attack on the Centre-State relations,” said BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman. “It is a clear case of Congress getting back at Narendra Modi,” she said.

“There have been many attempts in the past to target our popular leader but he has always emerged stronger in every adversity,” said BJP chief Rajnath Singh.
