After embracing BJP rebels, the CPM in Kannur is set to take rebels from right wing Muslim outfit, Popular Front of India (PFI), under its wing. The CPM district leadership held discussions with rebel PFI activists in Kannur Saturday.
CPM district secretary P Jayarajan said the party would welcome anyone who abandoned his or her links with communal forces. Two weeks ago, a group of BJP workers had joined the CPM.
The PFI and its political arm, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), have had several clashes with the CPM and BJP in Kannur.
On February 2, a CPM worker, Roshan, who was earlier with the PFI, was allegedly attacked by members from his former party. This prompted Roshan’s supporters to quit the organisation and head towards CPM.
