No need for Chavan to resign: Maha Congress Chief

The decision had been taken after taking the cabinet into confidence,Thakre said.

Maharashtra Congress chief Manikrao Thakre on Saturday came to the defence of Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan over the Adarsh commission report issue, saying that there was no need for him to resign.

Chavan is facing some embarrassment after the party vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday expressed disapproval about the state government’s decision to reject the report of the inquiry commission on Adarsh Society scam.

“There is no question of Chief Minister resigning. The decision (to reject the report) had been taken after taking the cabinet into confidence,” Thakre said, talking to reporters here.
