Maharashtra' s NCP MLAs Wednesday unanimously urged Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to withdraw his resignation and also asked party chief Sharad Pawar to talk to all the legislators and address the crisis arising out of Ajits sudden decision to put in his papers. A resolution was adopted requesting (Ajit) Pawar to take back his resignation. We have asked Pawar senior to talk to the MLAs and sought his time to discuss the matter. It was decided there would be no political discussion, Madhukar Pichad, state NCP president, said after a meeting of the MLAs. In Kolkata,Sharad Pawar said the partys legislators in Maharashtra had requested Ajit Pawar to reconsider his decision to quit but the final call on the matter, however, would be his. The legislative party of NCP has unanimously decided to request Maharashtra deputy chief minister to reconsider his decision. The final decision will be taken by the partys national president, Pawar told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of agriculture ministers of eastern states. Pawars nephew Ajit resigned Tuesday over allegations of irregularities in irrigation projects when he was minister for water resources and finance. But Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan is yet to accept it. There were some allegations against him so he wanted to come out clean. But the final call will be taken by the partys national president. When someone resigns, some questions come up, Pawar said. When a leader takes some steps, they evoke reaction from others. But it is senior leaders who take the final decision. The agriculture minister also categorically said his party would continue to support the UPA at the Centre and the Congress in Maharashtra. He said the party would not withdraw support either from the UPA or from the Congress-led government in Maharashtra because it does not want to bring instability.
