At a time when the country is struggling to meet challenges posed by the global meltdown, the Jharkhand Government has initiated a move to appoint 32,057 staff.

The move comes close on the heels of a review meeting held by Union Home Minister P Chidambram here on Saturday during which he had asked the state administration, where the President’s rule was imposed on January 19,to fill up vacancies in Naxalite-infested areas on a priority basis.

Responding to his directive,Governor Syed Sibtey Razi on Monday asked secretaries of different departments to frame employment rules within 15 days.

Incidentally, after eight years of the formation of Jharkhand, the state has been following the Bihar’s Rules of Executive Business. Raj Bhawan PRO S N Jha said the Governor had ordered the setting up of a committee headed by secretary (Personnel). Jha said this committee would work to post Block Development Officers and Circle Officers in the Naxalite-hit areas without any delay as 66 blocks out of 247 in the state do not have BDOs/COs.
