Masked man shoots at businessman in Rohtak

A Resident of Model Town in Rohtak district was shot at his residence by a masked assailant on Tuesday morning.

Sushil Kumar,who runs a chemical factory on the Bhiwani road,was rushed to hospital by his family members following the incident which took place around 7 am.

On Tuesday morning,Kumar went to open the main door of his house after hearing a door bell. According to the police,before he could open the door,a person who was apparently hiding in the living room of the house,opened fired and escaped.

“Sushil’s family members heard the gunshot and rushed to the living room,where they found him lying in a pool of blood. They rushed him to PGIMS,where he was operated upon,” a police officer said.

Ved Singh,district police spokesperson,said: “If the assailant had entered the house with an intention of robbery,he would have taken something. But nothing is reportedly missing from the home. It appears that somebody shot Sushil Kumar because of an enmity. We have recorded his statement and are working on various theories. The needle of suspicion is pointing towards a relative.”

Meanwhile,a case was registered against an unidentified person for attempt to murder and under the provisions of Arms Act.

Youth’s death: Villagers protest in Jind

The residents of Shamdo village in Jind district blocked the Jind-Kaithal highway late on Monday night while protesting against the district police for not being able to arrest five persons who had shot dead a youth. Naresh (22),a resident of the village,was shot at by five youths from his village. He was admitted to Rohtak’s PGIMS,where he died on Monday night. His father Daya Singh lodged a complaint with the police,alleging that five youths — Rajiv,Tejvir,Sandeep,Virender and Amar — had murdered Naresh because of a personal enmity. Soon after,villagers refused to cremate Naresh and protested with his body on the highway. It was only after senior police officials assured them that the accused would be promptly arrested that the villagers lifted the blockade. Naresh was cremated on Tuesday.
