Karnal and Jind districts will now be part of the National Capital Region (NCR). The approval for the inclusion came Tuesday from the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB). With this, 57 per cent of Haryana’s area will be part of NCR. This was disclosed by Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar following the 35th meeting of the NCRPB in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The meeting was presided over by Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs M Venkaiah Naidu, who is also Chairman of the NCRPB.
Khattar said that Regional Plan-2021 for NCR region has been prepared with emphasis on development of infrastructure in the urban centres. However, the objective behind the creation of NCR could not be achieved unless the infrastructure of the villages in the region is simultaneously upgraded to be at par with its urban areas.
