The Indian Army on Monday claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid in North Kashmir’s Tanghdar sector. While one militant was killed, three army men lost their lives. This is the first infiltration bid on the LoC in Tanghdar sector.

Army said that a patrol led by a Junior Commissioned Officer intercepted a group of militants close to the fencing.

Defense spokesman said that in exchange of gunfight four army men including an officer sustained injuries. ”We lost three men in the operation.”

The spokesman said that infiltrating militants couldn’t sneak into Valley. ”The infiltrators left body of a militant before they were beaten back. An AK rifle and a pistol were recovered from the slain militant,” said the spokesman, adding that the operation is still in progress.

He said that the condition of fourth soldier is stable.

The latest infiltration comes days after Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar during his Kashmir visit was told by the formation commanders that infiltration on the LoC in Kashmir has come down drastically.
