Thirteen students were detained by the police in Salt Lake area on Friday, who were staging a protest rally in solidarity with the protest by Jadavpur University students, who were allegedly beaten up by police on the night of September 16. West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi who is also the Chancellor of the University has intervened to end the stalemate in the prestigious institution, where students continue to boycott classes. Those in the mass communication department also boycotted their examination on September 18.
