Years back, when they entered this college as dreamy-eyed teenagers hoping to make it big in their lives, little did they think that they would return one day to relive their hostel lives.
But a group of alumni of Delhi University’s Hindu college, including eminent names like filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and cricketer Saba Karim, will be back in their hostel for a night to cherish that experience once again.
The unique night-long reunion to be held on July 9 is expected to see over 200 alumni return to their alma mater, spend a night at the hostel, share their life experiences and dine together, again,at the hostel mess.
“I lived there for three years but that is a home forever for me. Looking forward to the day when we shall together cherish old memories,” says Ali,the director of “Jab We Met”,about his chance to renew bonding with the college and also reignite old memories.
The night-long gathering will see cultural programmes and sports on a lighter note and even serious discussions on issues of national and international importance.
Navneet Anand,an alumni of the 1987-1990 batch, and one of the brains behind this reunion, says one of the motives of the meeting is to revive the old values of community and personal camaraderie in today’s world of the social network.
“What we noticed primarily was that college reunions are often reduced to a wine and dine experience, but we wanted to bring a meaningful difference to this entire concept,” Anand, who now runs a PR agency, said.
