The Orissa High Court has imposed an interim stay on holding of the second phase of the Orissa Administrative Services (OAS) main examinations scheduled to begin on Friday.
The examinations, which were to be held for the second time as per the direction of the state administrative tribunal (SAT),face uncertain future as the case is now posted for hearing in July.
An additional 830 candidates who were earlier declared to have qualified the preliminary examinations following a SAT order in September last year were scheduled to appear in the second phase of the main examinations.
Before the SAT order,a total of 3730 students appeared in the main examinations conducted last year by the Orissa Public Service Commission (OPSC).
The bench comprising Justice B P Das and Justice B P Ray stayed the second phase of main examinations yesterday when the state government came up with a fresh petition challenging SAT’s order.
The minority and backward development department filed the petition stating that the number of students declared qualified in the preliminary examinations in two phases has not been done in accordance with the reservation ratio.
