Haryana woman bags $ 50,000 US scholarship

A Haryana woman,the daughter of a driver in the state public relations department,has bagged a prestigious $50,000 scholarship to pursue her PhD in Chemistry from an American university. Poonam Dhull,from Bhana village in Kaithal district,is all set to head to the University of South Carolina.

She completed her senior secondary from OSDAV Senior Secondary School,Kaithal,and then did her further studies including graduation in sciences (BSc Medical) and post graduation in Chemistry from the Panjab University in Chandigarh.

She also pursued research work under the supervision of Prof P Venugopalan who guided her on the project titled “Structure-activity relationships in a-fluorohydrins and their derivatives — A structural investigation”.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda congratulated Poonam on Saturday.
