Gujjars are once again up in arms in Rajasthan and are planning a march to the state capital to press for their demand for reservation to the community in government jobs.
Gujjars, who launched a sit-in at Gazipur in Dausa district on Tuesday, have decided to undertake a march on Friday to the state capital from several districts and have urged community members to assemble in large numbers to exert pressure on the government.
Lakhs of people would march towards Jaipur on Friday from NH-8 and NH-11 from various places of the state, Mahindar Singh,a community leader said.
Gujjars led by their leader Colonel (Retd) Kirori Singh Bainsla began the sit-in yesterday demanding quota for the community in government jobs.
While the community is threatening yet another mass agitation, police and senior officials are tight lipped about the arrangements and preparations to deal with the issue.
When asked about arrangements,Principal Secretary Home Pradeep Sen said,This time,we are not in a state to comment anything over the issue.
The Rajasthan High Court had in October last year stayed the quota in jobs and educational institution in the state for the Gujjars and people of Economically Backward Classes.
