FIR against 12 principals over illegal appointments in Magadh University

Those booked for forgery and criminal conspiracy include six selection committee members.

The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Tuesday filed an FIR against 25 Magadh University functionaries, including 12 principals, over alleged illegal appointments in the university in year 2012-13.

Those booked for forgery and criminal conspiracy include six selection committee members. The VIB, which filed the case on the instructions of Patna High Court, later informed the court about the FIR.

Vigilance sources said charges against the accused included favouring their acquaintances with appointment even when there were no vacancies to violation of university act, non-compliance of university roster and alleged fudging in merit list.

Those named in the FIR include the then Magadh University Vice-Chancellor Arun Kumar, the then registrar D K Yadav, meeting in-charge Shamshul Islam, deputy registrar Fahimuddin, selection committee member and governor’s representative Baleshwar Paswan.
