The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta Thursday raided premises of IPS officer Mayank Jain in four cities and unearthed details of disproportionate income and properties running into crores.

The 1995-batch officer of MP cadre is currently posted as IG (community policing) in police headquarters here. After simultaneous raids in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain and Rewa, the Lokayukta police recovered documents that showed Jain had land and property in most of the places he was posted.

“There were many complaints against him and the evidence was so overwhelming that raids were inevitable,” a senior Lokayukta official told The Indian Express, and added that money had been routed through different means into property transactions.

The first complaint had been received about a year and a half ago from Ratlam in which Jain was accused of using his clout to force someone to vacate a piece of land. He owns at least 35 acre land in Bhikangaon alone besides plots in Piplyakhurd and Jamunia villages of Khargone district.

He also owns several residential properties in Indore and Bhopal, nursing homes in Rewa and Bhopal, a franchise of a school and medicine shops. Jain and his wife are qualified doctors.

The couple’s total earning is round Rs one crore but their expenditure is five times more, sources alleged. Jain owns a stone crusher plant and a cement mixing plant at two different places in Indore district.

Police seized Rs 19 lakh cash and jewellery worth Rs 19 lakh from his house in Rewa. LIC policies worth Rs 35 lakh and jewellery worth Rs 16 lakh were seized from his rented house in Riviera Township.
