Delhiites bore the brunt of a scorching sun on Tuesday as mercury soared to season’s highest of 42.2 degree Celsius with weatherman predicting no respite from searing heat in the coming days.
Tuesday’s maximum was three degree above normal and up from Monday’s 41.2 degree Celsius,while the minimum was at 26.7 deg C,two notches above normal and up from previous day’s 26.4 deg C.
Monday’s maximum was the highest for this season so far.
The Weatherman is predicting no relief for tomorrow as the mercury is likely to be around 42 deg C. The minimum could be 28 deg C.
The humidity oscillated between 15 per cent and 54 per cent,the MeT department said.
The mercury had touched 41.1 deg C on May 1,the previous high.
Last year,the maximum had touched 45.4 deg C on May 18,the highest in the past 10 years for the month. The record maximum for May was 47.2 deg C recorded on 29th of the month in 1944.
