Compensate flood affected farmers in J-K: CPI(M)

Govt needs to study crop disease and compensate farmers accordingly,says CPI(M).

Jammu and Kashmir unit of CPI(M) on Monday demanded adequate compensation to farmers whose crops were damaged by recent floods in the Valley and due to a certain disease.

“The government needs to study the crop disease and compensate farmers whose crops have experienced extensive damage,” state secretary of CPI(M) M Y Tarigami said.

“Had the government introduced the Crop Insurance Scheme in the state,such eventualities could have been tackled effectively,he said.

He also demanded relief measures for the flash flood victims in Tral and Kupwara,saying that both crops and properties have suffered damage in these areas due to sudden inundation.
