A team of 8th and 9th battalion of STF was on a patrol along the NH 30 when the Maoists ambushed them. The rebels had blocked the national highway at several places. The incident took place on the same highway were the Maoists had attacked the Congress convoy in May 2013, killing senior party leaders.
After the ambush, the Maoists also damaged the highway and traffic was affected. “They always try to blow away roads… But we are determined to take roads in their area,” said Vij.
