The Centre has approved the inter-cadre transfer of Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi from Haryana to Uttarakhand cadre.

The decision clearing his inter-cadre deputation was taken by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on August 12, just days after Chaturvedi was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award.

Currently posted in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences as deputy secretary, Chaturvedi shot to prominence after having claimed to have exposed a series of irregularities in Haryana—including alleged involvement of powerful politicians in that state. He faced multiple transfers and was suspended in 2007.

During his five-year stint in his home cadre, Chaturvedi was transferred 12 times. While the Central government pulled him out of Haryana and put him on central deputation, no ministry in the Centre wanted him.

He had recently sought a change of cadre from Haryana to Uttarakhand.
