Censor Board: Cong slams Jaitley remark

Congress said the govt should have examined the complaints levelled by board rather than dismissing them.

The Congress Sunday hit out at the BJP government over the mass resignations of Censor Board members. Referring to I&B Minister Arun Jaitley’s attack on the Board members, the Congress said the government should have examined the complaints levelled by them about corruption and inefficiency rather than dismissing them.

“If 10 people, all of them very respected in their fields, headed by a chairperson who is widely respected say there is grave maladministration…I think it behoves the government and the minister to look into it,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said. Jaitley had Saturday slammed the Censor Board members, including its former chief Leela Samson. He called the members as “rebels without a cause”.
