The Chamar Mahan Sabha,an organisation fighting for the rights of the Scheduled Castes,on Sunday launched a movement for the social and economic upliftment of the SC community in Punjab. Sabha chief Paramjit Singh Kainth, while addressing a function on the third Founder’s day of the sabha, said that Parkash Singh Badal-led SAD-BJP government was blatantly ignoring the fundamental rights of the scheduled castes. “The SC Sub-Plan of the 11th five-year plan worth Rs 4088.49 crore for 2007-12 had not been spent. According to the planning commission, the money allocated to this sub-plan cannot be diverted or allowed to lapse. In the 12th five-year plan (2012-13) Rs 4,039 crore was allocated for the SC sub-plan,but not a single penny was spent for the welfare of the SC community. The SAD-BJP government has no account of where this money has gone.” Kainth said.
