The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officially launched its poll campaign on Monday,with representatives of the party saying they would fight the election on two broad planks corruption and the lack of law and order in the city. Those present at the meeting,including the BJP candidate for the newly formed Noida Assembly seat,Dr Mahesh Sharma said while crores of rupees have been spent on symbols such as the Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal and the Mahamaya Inter College,the rest of the city was ignored,and they would seek to correct these decisions if they get voted to power. The government in its term has done nothing for the residents of the city. It has bungled the land acquisition process,while officials continued to take huge bribes. On a school,which is named after the Chief Minister,crores have been spent. If that money was spent on several schools,the education system in the city would have become better. Law and order doesnt exist here. Kidnappings happen every day. These are dangerous signs for the city, said Sharma,who is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Kailash Hospital,one of the largest private hospitals in the city. He had contested the last Lok Sabha elections from Gautam Budh Nagar but lost to sitting MP,Surinder Singh Nagar. We are sure that we will win at least four of the five seats in the Gautam Budh Nagar. Our candidates have spotless records and have been working the year around. From today,we will start spreading our election manifesto among the people. One of our prime concerns is to make the voice of the people heard in the working of the Noida Authority. The agenda of board meetings should be put up at least a week beforehand,so that people can give their suggestions. This is something we will actively work towards if we are brought to power, Sharma said.
