A Bhutanese cadet at the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his cabin Thursday. The police suspect it to be a case of suicide. Yeshi Dorji (18), who was admitted to the institute in June, belonged to Charlie Squadron.
“Around 3.10 pm, Cadet Yeshi Dorji was found hanging with a cord from the ceiling fan in his cabin. The cadet was immediately rushed to the Military Hospital in Khadakwasla, where he was declared brought dead. An investigation has been ordered to establish the cause of death,” read a release issued by the NDA public relations officer.
Senior inspector G D Pingle said, “Our team is conducting primary investigations at the spot. No suicide note was found in the cabin.” A senior police officer, who did not wish to be named, said, “Prima facie, this seems to be a case of suicide. We will also look at the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause.”
