Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF),the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Amway India,celebrated the International White Cane Day with Bhartiya Netraheen Kalyan Parishad here in Delhi. AOF donated 150 white canes to the visually challenged people of Bhartiya Netraheen Kalyan Parishad with an objective of spreading awareness about the right of safe mobility for visually challenged. Commenting on the initiative,William S Pinckney,Chairman,Amway Opportunity Foundation said,The White Cane day initiative ensures that the awareness levels of the public,on mobility challenges faced by the blind,are raised. The visually challenged have equal right to walk safely on streets and on this day we all must recognize this. Speaking on the occasion,Ramesh Prasad Singh,General Secretary,Bhartiya Netraheen Kalyan Parishad,said,Such initiatives are aimed at sensitizing the general public and spreading awareness across the society about the importance of white canes and the rights of visually challenged to travel safely. I extend my gratitude to AOF for launching this awareness drive that will go a long way in promoting safety of visually challenged in Delhi.
