An assistant professor of Allahabad University was beaten up and paraded partially clad from his house to the police station on Thursday after he was found with a student in a compromising position. The woman in question lodged an FIR of eve-teasing against the assistant professor, but later gave it in writing to the police that she was doing so at the behest of a couple of other students. The assistant professor was sent for a medical examination and an FIR on his complaint is likely to be registered against the students who attacked him. According to the police, assistant professor Dharampal, who teaches music, was at his residence, 50 metres from Colonelganj police station. A few student leaders reached his house in the afternoon and allegedly found the professor in a compromising position with a female post-graduate student. The female student also came with him, although the student leaders wanted her to leave the scene. A police officer said the students were not ready to let go of the professor even as they reached the police station. “The female student appeared to be under pressure to accept the allegations being levelled against the teacher. We have got things videographed,” he said. Sources said the assistant professor was Wednesday accused by another female student in the varsity of misbehaving with her, following which it ordered a probe. However, some student leaders wanted to rake up this issue against him at his house. The episode unfolded when they reached his house.
