Two days after CBSE Class XII results were announced, ABVP activists on Wednesday vandalised a Christian school in Jabalpur holding it responsible for poor showing by the higher secondary students. The parents and the ABVP activists alleged that over 86 per cent of Class XII students of Ryan International School had failed to clear the board examination, a figure that the school disputes. While the school’s administrative officer claimed 60 out of 113 students had cleared the examination, the protesters maintained that as many as 138 out of 160 students had failed to do so. The ABVP activists stormed the school premises in Shantinagar on Wednesday afternoon. Television footage captured them breaking furniture and flower pots in the presence of policemen. No case has been lodged so far. [related-post] Some parents and activists also alleged that the school did not send answer sheets to the board, a charge the school administration has denied. Arguing that it cannot be held responsible for the poor performance by some students, the school administration told the parents and the activists to apply for re-checking. Administrative officer Sunit Diwan told The Indian Express that a few students had scored more than 85 per cent marks. “Our reputation is also at stake, why will we not send answer sheets for re-evaluation,” he said.
