The Government Railways Police (GRP) and Indian Immigration officials have failed to exchange basic data needed to establish identity of the suspected Pakistani woman, Chand Khan, arrested at the Jalandhar railway station on July 30 for travelling on the Samjhauta Express without valid documents.
In the absence of any separate barracks for women in custody, Chand Khan is being kept at a wireless room in the GRP station at the Amritsar railway station. After her arrest, she was remanded to five days police custody.
Meanwhile the standoff between GRP and Immigration officials continue. GRP officials alleged that Immigration authorities at Attari railway station had yet not shared the passengers’ data with them, vital for establishing her identity.

“I have asked my inspector to write a letter to Immigration officials seeking the data. It should have been provided by now,” said Gurmeet Singh, Assistant Inspector General (AIG), GRP. “Immigration officials do not give data easily and its non-availability is definitely delaying our investigations in the case,” he added.
