4 held for carrying narcotic substance

Four persons were arrested along with a large cache of a narcotic substance in Anantnag district of South Kashmir,police said.

Four persons were arrested on Sunday along with a large cache of a narcotic substance in Anantnag district of South Kashmir,police said.

Acting on a tip-off,police intercepted an oil tanker at Bijbehara,45 km from here,on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

During search,two bags of Fuki,a powdery substance used as narcotics,weighing 25 kgs each,were recovered.

The driver of the vehicle — Shakeel Ahmad Itoo of Kapran-Veerinag,and Touseef Ahmad Wani of Haripora-Tral are being questioned,police said.

In a separate incident,police recovered 35 kgs of Fuki at bus stand Qazigund,80 kms from here,on Srinagar-Jammu national highway,from the possession of two persons – Idrees Ahmad Bhat and Basharat Ahmad Bhat,both residents of Anantnag.

The duo has been arrested and a case registered,police said.
