Two new children’s home to come up in Rohtak,Hansi

While shelter homes and child care institutions in Haryana are already under scanner after the infamous Apna Ghar scandal,the state on Thursday announced that it will set up one children home each in Rohtak and Hisar district’s Hansi,as well as a observation home in Karnal.

While shelter homes and child care institutions in Haryana are already under scanner after the infamous Apna Ghar scandal,the state on Thursday announced that it will set up one children home each in Rohtak and Hisar district’s Hansi,as well as a observation home in Karnal.

Director General (women and child development) Sumita Misra said the government has released Rs 37 lakh for the construction of a children’s home for both girls and boys at Bal Bhawan in Rohtak. It will have a capacity for 50 inmates and also function as a shelter home. “This will be the first such home in the district. The total estimated cost of construction of the home is Rs 76.41 lakh,” she said.

To augment the government-run child care institutions and to supplement and strengthen the capacity established under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act,2000,these homes are being set up,she added. The children home,to be set up in Hisar district,and observation home in Karnal,will have a capacity of 50 inmates each,said Misra.
